Shane Steichen is one of the youngest head coaches in the National Football League.

He worked his way up the league, holding various positions before finally getting the nod to become a coach.

He earned that honor after a couple of seasons as the Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive coordinator, and it wasn’t long before he proved he was more than worthy of the opportunity.

That’s why, when asked to describe him, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson could only call him a genius.

Speaking to Kay Adams for her show Up & Adams, the second-year pro stated that he was grateful for the fact that his coach knew so much about football, as just being in a room with him allowed him to learn a lot about the game.

“I think he’s a genius…honestly,” Richardson said.

Without Steichen in the building, the Eagles’ offense took a big step back.

The Colts, on the other hand, managed to stay in contention to not only win the AFC South but also make the playoffs, and that was despite Richardson missing most of the season with injuries.

It seems like people aren’t giving the Colts much thought right now.

But if Richardson stays healthy, Steichen could continue to be a strong player with this type of roster, and at just 39 years old, he should have a very long and bright future as a head coach in this league.
