California casinos must face trade secret allegations over gambling apps

A federal judge in New York has allowed a lawsuit accusing two California casinos of reverse engineering the source code of gambling software to survive, while dismissing claims of copyright infringement.

Casino operators Stones South Bay Corp. and King’s Casino Management Corp. should face lawsuits for breach of contract and misappropriation of trade secrets after their casinos allegedly violated Transient Path LLC’s licensing agreements, Judge Loretta Preska of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York said in her Aug. 8 opinion. But the judge dismissed the plaintiff’s infringement claims.
