Heritage Christian and Greenwood Christian to join Indiana Crossroads

The Indiana Crossroads Conference will add Heritage Christian and Greenwood Christian to form a reconfigured six-team league beginning in July 2025.

The new Indiana Crossroads Conference will certainly have a lot of impact. The league’s six schools (Cardinal Ritter, Covenant Christian, Greenwood Christian, Heritage Christian, Lutheran and Scecina) have won a combined 42 state championships and 354 sectional titles across all sports.

The new ICC comes shortly after Beech Grove, Monrovia, Speedway and Triton Central left the conference to form the newly named Hoosier Legends Conference with Indian Creek and Tri-West to form a six-team league beginning in 2025. The Hoosier Legends Conference is made up entirely of public schools, while the ICC is made up of private schools.

Administrators of the Hoosier Legends Conference schools have left the door open to the possibility of adding two more schools to form an eight-team league. The original plan was to officially start the conference in August 2026, but the formation of the new-look ICC will allow both conferences to begin sooner.

The Indiana Crossroads Conference was formed in 2005 as a four-team league with Beech Grove, Cardinal Ritter, Park Tudor and Scecina. Lutheran, Lapel and Speedway joined a few years later, followed by Triton Central in 2012 and Monrovia in 2014 after Lapel left. Cascade replaced Park Tudor in 2019, then left this year with Covenant Christian as its replacement.

“These additions also add to another element that has raised the profile of the Indiana Crossroads Conference, which is the commitment to academic excellence,” the ICC said in a news release to IndyStar. “Since its inaugural year in 2005, the ICC has always strived to encourage excellence in comprehensive academic and athletic programs, promote friendly understanding among member schools in all interscholastic relationships, and affirm our belief in growth through academic and athletic challenges. These additions also align perfectly with the goals of the ICC.”
