The Steph Curry trait that Mike McDaniel wants in his players

During Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel’s Monday morning press conference, he talked about meeting NBA champion and Olympic gold medalist Steph Curry while on vacation with his wife and children in Orlando.

McDaniel was staying at the Four Seasons in Orlando, where the Golden State Warriors were also based. McDaniel went to Disney World with the family while Curry was preparing to play against the Orlando Magic.

“It was at the Four Seasons in Orlando. We were visiting Disney,” McDaniel said. “I think Golden State was on the road to play the Orlando Magic and I ended up talking to him a little bit. My wife took a picture of us talking. I think he took a picture of us. I was too nervous to ask for her phone number. It was great.”

McDaniel was very impressed with Curry. During the press conference, he said that if Curry was listening, he would want a copy of the photo he took. He added that Curry was the epitome of everything that is great about professional sports.

“He’s the extreme version of everything I believe in training for track and field,” McDaniel said. “When you meet a guy and you have five or 10 minutes, I don’t even know what I said. I just repeated some things and remembered what he said about focus.”

The Dolphins are preparing for an exhibition game this week against last season’s Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders. The game is set to tip off at 7:00 p.m. at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday night.
