The Florida Republican Party has one million more registered voters than Democrats in the state, its chairman announced.

“Our success goes beyond numbers,” Evan Power, chairman of the Florida Republican Party, said in a statement released Sunday. “This is about a vision to make Florida a beacon of freedom for the rest of the county.”

Florida, once considered a swing state, has become increasingly Republican in recent years, voting for Donald Trump in 2016 and 2020 and electing Gov. Ron DeSantis by a landslide in 2022.

According to the Florida Department of State’s Division of Elections, registered Democrats outnumbered Republicans as recently as 2020.

Donald Trump has lived in Florida since 2019.
