LAFAYETTE — High School sports in the Lafayette area kicked off last week with three girls golfing events that took place in West Lafayette, Battle Ground and Oxford.

Three of the top players from each of these events that took place between Aug. 5 and Aug. 10 have been selected as the J&C Athlete of the Week candidates.

This group includes three girl golfers from Harrison, Twin Lakes and Southmont.

Fans can vote an unlimited number of times until Thursday at noon.

Layla Sterns (Twin Lakes)

Sterns opened the season by shooting a score of 90 at the Harrison Invitational last Monday. Sterns managed to birdie her second hole and finished the day eighth overall.

Izzy Flint (Harrison)

Vandeveer started her weekend by shooting an 88 at the Lafayette Jeff Booster Invite at Battle Ground Golf last Wednesday and followed up with a score of 80 during the Benton Central Girls Golf Invitational at Oak Grove Country Club last Friday.

Addison Meadows (Southmont)

Meadows has been one of the top high school golfers in the Lafayette area over the past four seasons. Meadows once again showed how consistent and accurate she could be on the fairway in greens. Meadows shot a 77 last Tuesday at the Lafayette Jeff Booster Invite at Battle Ground Golf Club. Meadows has made it to the IHSAA Girls State Golf Championships in all three years heading into her senior seasons. She is signed to play golf at Indiana Wesleyan University.
