I instinctively want to bet on the Braves because they are the better team, but the fact is that they are not at their best right now. The Rockies are not much better, which makes this game difficult to predict.

What makes it even harder to pick is this pitching matchup. You’re facing two young, inexperienced pitchers. These two have a combined total of 6 career starts.

With all that said, I’ll leave this bet and look at the run line and total to make a bet.

Run Line/Against the Spread

ROCKIES BET +1.5 (-105).

While I don’t know if the Rockies will win this game outright, I like them on the run line. Gordon has a bit more experience as a starter and had his best performance of his career against the Padres in his last start. He also has the advantage of pitching in front of the home crowd. Gordon hasn’t had a chance to pitch at Coors since July 7.

The Rockies are also playing above .500 baseball at home since the All-Star break.

I really want to bet on the Over since it will be played at Coors Field against two very young pitchers, but the trends scare me. The teams are 3-3 against the Over in their last 6 meetings.
