The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for parts of southern Michigan until 3 p.m. this afternoon.

Tornado warning

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for parts of southern Michigan until 3:00 p.m. EDT this afternoon. A few tornadoes, strong wind gusts, and large hail are possible.National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Affected counties include Branch, Hillsdale, Lenawee, Calhoun, Jackson, Monroe, Cass, Kalamazoo and St. Joseph.

A tornado watch means that conditions are conducive for a few tornadoes this morning and into the afternoon. A tornado warning means that there is an immediate threat of a tornado due to a storm that is currently occurring. Stay alert for possible warnings issued by the National Weather Service.

Tornado warnings have already been issued for parts of southwest Michigan this morning. This storm system is expected to move eastward, bringing with it a severe threat.
