The boat was reported in distress on Lake Michigan, but officials arrived when heavy rain hit the area and found there was nothing wrong, according to Indiana Department of Natural Resources conservation officer Tyler Brock.

“A concerned citizen called to report that a boat was headed there from Michigan City, but that boat turned around and made it safely to shore,” he said.

The DNR was assisted on the call by park services rangers and U.S. Coast Guard officers, Brock said.
