Tropical Storm Debby is heading north toward Florida’s Big Bend from Cuba, packing sustained winds of 40 miles per hour, the National Hurricane Center said in an update early Sunday, Aug. 4.

According to AccuWeather.com:

  • There is an increasing risk of tornadoes and windswept storms across the Florida peninsula this weekend.
  • Rainfall totals could exceed 12 to 18 inches along the southeastern U.S. coast next week, posing a significant flood and public safety risk.
