Jalen Cropper was named ‘Player of the Day’ after the Dallas Cowboys’ fourth practice with protection

The Jalens take over the Dallas Cowboys’ training camp in Oxnard.

During Saturday’s fourth training camp practice session, wide receiver Jalen Cropper emerged as a standout player, with some team reporters labeling the second-year player the “Player of the Day.”

Cropper played with the first, second and third team offenses all day, making plays with whichever unit he was playing with.

On a touchdown, Cropper got ahead of starting cornerback Jourdan Lewis and Dak Prescott found him for a spectacular play in the back corner of the end zone that brought the crowd to its feet.

On a second touchdown, Cooper Rush found Cropper crossing the middle of the field.

Once he caught the ball, the former Fresno State star hit the jets and outran the defense into the end zone.

And it wasn’t just touchdowns.

Cropper was making plays all over the field, finding holes in coverage and sitting on his routes, creating lanes for quarterbacks.

Coming into training camp, the Cowboys were unsure of what they had at wide receiver with several inexperienced and unproven players competing for the WR3 role.

Now, with Jalen Tolbert, Jalen Brooks, KaVontae Turpin and Jalen Cropper all showing up to camp, it appears the Cowboys may have a surplus at the position and tough decisions to make when it comes time to make roster cuts.

The Cowboys won’t have an open practice on Sunday, August 4, but when they return to the field on Monday morning it will be interesting to see who can step up next.
