An 83-year-old man was pushed down the stairs of the New York subway in Manhattan

NEW YORK – An 83-year-old man is recovering after police say he was pushed down the stairs of a subway station in an unprovoked attack.

The victim was leaving the 53rd Street and Lexington Avenue station when she was pushed around 11:10 p.m. Friday night. She was taken to Bellevue Hospital with a head injury and is listed in stable condition.

Police have arrested a suspect, Kingsley Adjo, 54, on charges of assault and reckless endangerment.
