Backyard Flames in Greensboro serves delicious dogs and more

GREENSBORO, NC (WGHP) — If you’re looking for Big Will’s famous hot dogs, chili cheese fries, cheesesteaks and more, check out Backyard Flames in Greensboro.

Backyard Flames is owner Will Pettiford’s way of giving back to the community. In 2014, he started a gang prevention program for at-risk youth, and he was looking for ways to raise money for it.

“I started with a small hotdog cart just trying to make extra money for my program. That was in September 2019. As you know, in 2020, the whole world shut down. COVID happened. I ended up losing my job in the school system, so I had no way to even fund my life. “So my little hotdog cart that I had as a hobby became my full-time job,” Pettiford says.

That hobby turned out better than expected.

“I ended up making enough money to buy my first food truck and expand, and now we’re on to our second one,” he says.

According to Pettiford, customers rave about the nationally-ranked hot dogs, award-winning salsa and award-winning chicken wings in flavors like barbeque, buffalo and more.
