Autopsy pending after body found near busy highway in Tennessee

Police said a death investigation is continuing in Hendersonville after human remains were found in a wooded area near Vietnam Veterans Boulevard on Wednesday.

A Tennessee Department of Transportation contract worker discovered the remains in a small wooded area near New Shackle Island Road while picking up trash, according to a news release issued by the department.

Investigators say the remains are of a white female, approximately 4’9″, 105 pounds with brown hair.

They have not revealed any identity.

The cause of death is still under investigation, pending an autopsy.
