Badgers News: Michigan’s talented 2026 OL talks about his return and his recruitment

The Wisconsin Badgers hosted 2026 offensive lineman Benjamin Eziuka for a visit earlier this month, as the Michigan native camped with the team for a day.

What was the day like for the talented lineman that Wisconsin was interested in early on?

“Today was mostly about getting Coach Blazek to see me move, my fundamentals, my footwork, all that stuff and how I move as a player. I felt like I showed it pretty well today,” Eziuka said.

Watching Eziuka in camp, it is clear that he can move with some authority, but also with agility on his feet. In particular, I found his way down to stand out among his fellow campmates.

How have you worked on that aspect and developed as a player in general?

“Yeah, I practice (my snatch) for probably ten minutes every time I work out, just starting, a lot of internal footwork, movement, all that. I feel like I got a lot better at my run blocking last year. We were a very strong team last year, so it gave me a good opportunity to watch a lot of films and work in that department.”

“So before, I felt like I was a much heavier pass protector, but I feel like I’ve evened out my game a lot more this year.”

Next, the lineman looks to continue improving his ground game technique to become a better all-around player.

“(As far as improvements,) definitely just keeping my head up in the run game, seeing what I’m hitting, not being too aggressive and also bringing power, all that, relying on my family a little bit more in pass protection, not leaning, all that, just becoming a better all-around player.”

Several schools have already begun taking notice of the 2026 offensive lineman, with Eziuka having received nine offers so far, while others are showing regular interest.

What has been the feeling this year when your recruiting has started to take off?

“I feel good. I’ve been working hard at this since I was in seventh grade, so it’s really nice to see it all taking shape and a lot of big schools like Wisconsin being interested in me because I’ve always liked this school.”

“I’ve always wanted to get an offer to this school and possibly play there. So to see so much interest from Wisconsin means a lot to me.”

It’s been a busy summer for the 6’3, 290-pounder as he camped at six different schools: Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Kentucky, Cincinnati, Tennessee and Michigan.

Next up will be game day visits in the fall before Junior Day arrives next January.

Will Wisconsin be one of those schools Eziuka plans to visit?

“Oh, yeah, for sure. I’m definitely going to come here to see a game in the fall. Yeah, I was planning on it last year. I just didn’t get transportation arranged. So this year, we’re definitely going to plan it a lot further in advance.”
