Pedestrian struck and killed by pickup truck in northwest Phoenix

PHOENIX — A man was killed after being struck by an SUV while crossing the street Saturday night, authorities said Sunday.

Officers responded to the crash near Glendale and 19th avenues around 11 p.m., where they found a man who was seriously injured. Firefighters pronounced him dead at the scene.

Detectives later learned he was crossing Glendale Avenue outside of the marked crosswalk when he was struck. No additional information about the victim’s identity was released.

Authorities said the young woman driving the van remained at the scene and was not intoxicated.
