Strong to severe storms possible tonight

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) – Today’s warm air has created a good environment for storms to start in KELOLAND. High temperatures will be in the 70s in eastern KELOLAND, 80s in central and 90s in western South Dakota.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is posted for central and western South Dakota until 9 pm MDT. This means that if a storm appears, it could produce very strong winds and large hail.

There is also a tornado watch posted for southeastern KELOLAND until 10 pm CDT. This means that if a storm begins, it can produce high winds, large hail, and a tornado is possible.

These storms will move out of the area after midnight. Low temperatures will be around 60 degrees.

Father’s Day Sunday will be pretty quiet. High temperatures will be in the 70s and 80s, trying to reach 90 degrees in southeastern KELOLAND. We will have some sun.

We expect another round of thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon and overnight. There is a level 2 out of 5 risk of severe weather in most of KELOLAND. Large hail and strong winds are the main threats.

Monday brings more chances of rain and thunderstorms. High temperatures will be in the 60s in western South Dakota and 80s in central and eastern KELOLAND.

There is another chance for bad weather on Monday. There is a level 2 out of 5 risk in central and northeast KELOLAND. Hail and strong winds will be the main threats.
