Streetcar & Bus Tours

Marta is available to provide narrated tours of downtown Toronto from a bus or streetcar. Your group can charter a vehicle or use regular transit.

OPTION 1: CHARTER

Your group charters a bus (many firms provide this service) or streetcar (from the Toronto Transit Commission; see http://www3.ttc.ca/TTC_Business/Chartering_TTC_Vehicles/index.jsp). The cost for my services as tour guide would depend on the length of the tour and the number of participants. I can also suggest routes and places to stop (stops are only possible with a bus; streetcars cannot sit and block the rails). Please e-mail me to discuss.

OPTION 2: USE REGULAR TRANSIT

This option is much less expensive because you do not charter a vehicle. You'll join me hopping on and off the regular Queen Street streetcar as described below:

QUEEN STREET STREETCAR TOUR

The Queen Street line is among the longest in North America and has been internationally praised as a great ride. This tour combines short walks with riding the streetcar from Parkdale to The Beach. We'll get off several times to walk and learn about the neighbourhoods and interesting buildings along the route. The tour includes parts of Beaconsfield Village, the Queen Street West district, the historic Queen & Yonge area, South Riverdale, and Corktown.

DETAILS

  • each tour participant needs to buy a $10.50 day pass that allows unlimited travel on the TTC
  • the tour takes 3½ to 4 hours (depending on the group); this includes a refreshment break
  • maximum number of participants is 15
  • my fee is $350
  • our five short walks will total 3 km
  • getting on and off streetcars makes this tour unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues

Please e-mail or phone me for more information on this fascinating tour.
